The national government of the party consists of the executive board of the party, chairs of the constituency associations, the chair of the municipal council, and the chair of the employee council. The chair and vice-chair of the Reykjavik constituency association are members of the national government if only one constituency association operates in Reykjavik. The Secretary of the Progressive Party is the chair of the national government. The national government shapes the policy for the internal operations of the party and shall meet at least three times a year. The national government shall present a report on its activities at the autumn meeting of the central committee each year.
